Nest that doesn´t cradle
The nest is linked to the atmosphere in post-war
Germany, which was mirrored in family lives and their way to communicate. Growing
up in a non-communicative family warmth and safety were lacking. So the form and
the material of the huge flying nest refer to these circumstances. The windings
with thread are the scarfs of the pain that was felt.
It meant a long journey, a huge effort and a
deep thought process to acquire the knowledge needed to create this cellophane nest
which did not cradle. At the end of my MA I am able to leave the nest, start to
fly and embark upon a new stage of life.
